Experienced educators and performers with 'day jobs', Mecca's teachers spend time each week sharing their love of the arts to help kids of ALL ages make friends, develop skills and confidence as they grow in our warm and supportive community.


Lisa Vasconcelos
Co-Owner, Artistic Director, Instructor (PT & APT Program)
Since 2001, Lisa has shared her love of, and passion for, all things theatre with folks of all ages from across our region. One of our regions most experienced and versatile stage performers, Lisa has appeared in, or directed, more than 60 productions in Westman, most of which have appeared on the WMCA stage. She enjoys singing and performing all styles of music - from rock to challenging choral pieces in German, Lisa's range, positivity and versatility make her an asset to any ensemble. She is a proud member of the Mecca Community Choir and NOVOS. She is grateful for the opportunities she has had in the classroom, helping people of all ages to discover the magic of musical theatre and power of community. She has mentored many young performers on stage and off, some of whom have made theatre arts their profession. When she's not at the studio, you can find her on the Pickleball courts or spending time with her family. Of all the roles she has played on stage, the role she is most proud of is 'mom to Tiana and Lucas.' She is honoured to lead such a dynamic and passionate team who bring a season of productions to the WMCA each year and is proud of her contribution to the arts in Westman, sharing these experiences with her husband David.
Tiana Vasconcelos, Co-Owner, Instructor (PT & APT Program), Lead Choreographer; Production Team Member
Tiana has grown up on the WMCA stage, appearing in more musicals than she can count. An ADAPT certified dance teacher, a trained vocalist and chorister, Tiana fills her life with all things performing arts. She is an award-winning choreographer who shares her passion for dance and singing with our APT students and as choreographer in our musicals. A triple-threat performer, Tiana has appeared in more than 30 productions. Favourite roles include Jo (Little Women), Sophie (Mamma Mia), Veronica (Heathers) and Katherine (Newsies). She loves spending her time at our studio with such amazing students and colleagues. When she's not at the studio, you can find her on the Pickleball court with her partner Josh and her family.


Hannah Price, Instructor (Term Classes), Production Team Member - Kids' Musicals & Community Musicals
Hannah is a long-time instructor at Mecca Productions, and for most kids, their first Mecca teacher! Hannah loves being a part of all things theatre, on stage and behind the scenes. She makes the magic happen, working on pretty much every Mecca show to date! A talented singer and performer, Hannah is a member of the Mecca Community Choir and NOVOS. Her favourite on stage roles include Nostradamus in Something Rotten and Ali in Mamma Mia (2019). She spends her days at Seniors for Seniors.
Katherine MacFarlane
Choral Instructor; Conductor - Mecca Community Choir; Production Team Member
Katherine has been a part of over 30 Mecca shows, on the stage, as music director, or as orchestra conductor. No matter the role, she is grateful for the opportunity to share these musical experiences with this wonderful community - including beloved family members, Avalon and Carter.


Clint McLachlan
Choral Instructor, Production Team Member
Clint teaches Choir, Drama, and Musical Theatre at Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School, performs with Mecca Productions, and Konektis Choir, teaches at Mecca Productions, is Music Director/Vocal Coach for Mecca Productions Musicals, Assistant Conductor of Konektis, and runs his own private voice studio. Clint has extensive experience performing in Musicals, Operas, Choral works, and as a soloist, most recently with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. He is so happy to be able to share his love of music with the audiences as well as his students.
Cameron Tataryn
Instructor (Term Classes & PT Program; Director Drama Productions)
Cam’s journey with Mecca Productions began with Les Miserables in 2014. Since then, he has stepped into lead roles in Little Women, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Heathers: The Musical and The Laramie Project. In 2025, Cam stepped into the role of director in Mecca's A Midsummer Night's Dream. He teaches Boys Only and Theatre Performance at Mecca Productions and enjoys adding his presence to the vibrant theatre community here in Brandon.


Avalon Sawatzky
Instructor (Term Classes)
Avalon spends her days working at Michael’s, and fills her evenings sharing her love of music with young performers as part of Mecca’s teaching staff. Avalon has had a blast on stage and off, featured in past productions such as Mecca’s Little Women, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, and Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Seven Ages’ Mary Poppins, Fiddler on the Roof and Cabaret.

Mitch Wedgewood, Instructor (PT Program); Kids' Musical Team Member
Mitch is a proud graduate of the Randolph College for the Performing Arts and holds Degrees in Instrumental Music and Music Education from Brandon University. Mitch has been establishing himself as an Arts Educator for the past 12 years, in such areas as Music/Theatre Teacher, Casting Director, and Musical Director. He is the music director for Mecca Kids' Musicals and has performed in many featured and ensemble roles with Mecca. Highlights include the role of Mark in RENT (June 2024), Nigel (Something Rotten) and The Laramie Project. During the day, Mitch is the band teacher at Hartney School. Mitch has had the extreme pleasure of singing alongside such legends as Sarah Brightman and Josh Groban on the Canadian stops of their recent world tours.
Olivia Hayward
Instructor (PT Program)
Instructor, Choreographer
Olivia is a triple-threat performer who loves sharing her passion for musical theatre and performance with her students. A trained dancer, she has also stepped into the role of choreographer for numerous Mecca shows. Her favourite roles include Sophie (Mamma Mia, 2025), Mary Poppins and Beth (Little Women).

Michelle Boudreau (Voice Teacher, Term Classes, Director - Hamlet)
For over 30 years Michelle Boudreau has performed on professional stages across Canada as a multi instrumentalist musician, performing artist & actor. Michelle has instructed musical theatre, songwriting, vocal coaching, music therapy to all ages in Alberta, Saskatchewan & Manitoba. Michelle began theatre training at the age of 7 with renowned St.Albert Children’s theatre & Victoria School for the Fine Arts in Edmonton Alberta. Starting theatre at a young age helped start Michelle’s life long journey in the creative arts and entertainment industry.
Boudreau has toured across Canada and played many festivals, NHL games, sharing and playing the stage with many great artists such as Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Jane Sibbery, Jackie Washington, Bill Bourne, Valdy, Little Miss Higgins, poetry slams and many more. Michelle Boudreau's original music has also been featured on National (CBC) and International radio, Television (Global/APTN/CBC) and major movie picture, "Surveillance" by director Jennifer Lynch.
