Our Combo, Drama/Improv and Music With Me classes run in two terms: Sept-Dec and Jan-April (new registrations taken in January if spots are available.) One fee covers all required materials. Classes are taught by experienced arts educators who know the benefit of developing self-confidence through participation in the arts.
Mecca’s Performance Troupe is a one-of-a-kind program that allows youngsters who love to sing, dance and perform to take it to the next level. Skills and talents developed over the year include: choral singing, musical theatre performances, stage dance with voice, and drama and improv. There are 5 groups: Boys Only (boys gr 2-5); Girls Aloud (girls gr 2-5); Sound Dynamix (boys & girls gr 6-8); Charisma (girls gr 9+) and Pride of Westman (by audition boys and girls gr 9+). Students from Carberry, Minnedosa, Virden, Souris, Kenton, Strathclair, Wawanesa, and other towns in westman have loved the opportunity to make new friends and develop their skills. Opportunities for solo, duet and small group performances in the Brandon Festival of the Arts are also offered. Classes run from Sept-June.

No other fees or charges apply to these classes; no special clothing or shoes required. Pay in full (cash or cheque) at open registration or your first class (online pre-registration required) or divide payment into post-dated cheques (payable to Mecca Productions) as works best for your family.

In addition to registration fees, costuming, apparel, festival entry, workshop and tour fees will be invoiced. Regular classes run Sept-April; extended rehearsals will also be scheduled for all five groups over the course of the year. Combo rehearsals with choral and dance professionals will extend contact time.

Commitment to the Sept-June term is required for ALL members of the performance troupe as is regular attendance at rehearsals. Participation in workshops and tour is also required.

Combo Classes: combine the three ‘triple-threat’ talents (singing, dancing, acting) into one fun-filled class. Classes begin at age 3 and continue to the end of grade 8. Perform in our Theatre for Young People musicals at the end of term 2. No previous experience is necessary. A great choice for the beginner or the busy young person who has other after school interests and activities. No special costuming or footwear is required. These classes focus on enjoyment and fun while building skills in a nurturing environment.
Accepting new students in all programs. No experience necessary.
Drama/improv classes build communication and group participation skills through games and direct instruction in dramatic arts. No singing, no dancing…let’s act! (And have lots of fun.) An in-class performance concludes term 2

Do you dream about joining the cast of Glee? Want to step on stage and perform? Do you already love to sing and Perform but want to develop your skills? Then join our Performance Troupe! You’ll receive instruction from from some of westman and Manitoba’s top vocal coaches, musicians, choreographers, and stage directors. Step on stage and let your love of performance shine as you entertain and perform at various events around westman. Past highlights include Play Date With Max and Ruby, Brandon’s Olympic Torch Celebration, ARHA Service Banquet and the BRHA Gala Dinner. Music With Me (ages 2 & 3) is our class for the young child and his/her parent/care giver. Let our experienced educators guide your Each week you sing, play games and make music & dance together.
Always wanted to be in a band? Love to sing the hits of today? Then Pop Stars is the class for you! With a focus on the hits of today, learn how to use a microphone and your voice. Sing with the group or by yourself - develop your confidence as you sing your way through the term. No acting - no dancing - JUST SING!
