Kristen Yuel
Choreographer - Pride of Westman & Charisma
Arts Adventures Summer Camp Instructor
Inspired by her own experiences with the Strathclair Drama Club, Lisa Vasconcelos, proprietor and artistic director of Mecca Productions, has shared her love of the magic of theatre and performance with hundreds of people of all ages across westman for more than 20 years.
After completing her studies at Brandon University, she began her work as a drama, musical theatre and theatre arts educator. For more than a decade, she was the driving force behind Neelin High School musicals, introducing hundreds of high school students to the joy of musicals and theatre. These experiences only served to confirm what Lisa already knew to be true: nothing develops self-confidence and changes lives for the better like being involved in theatre. New skills are learned, communities are enriched and life-long friendships are made. It was this realization that prompted the creation of “Mecca Productions.”
Since 2001, Mecca Productions, has provided top-quality entertainment to westman , staged drama and musical productions, created a community choir, toured New York and China with our touring choirs, offered after school classes, theatre workshops, 9 years of summer camps...and Mecca is still growing! Lisa collaborates with some amazing people to offer a full season of theatre, classes for children 2+ and opportunities for adults to sing, act and travel the world!
Mecca’s programs allow people of all ages and experience levels to develop their performance skills and confidence. Mecca Productions is very fortunate to have experienced, talented and caring teachers on their team. The focus in each and every program is on fun and friendship while developing skills and confidence in a nurturing and positive environment. Members of the Mecca Family have benefited from the gifts of Mecca’s talented, caring and experienced instructors.
Through Mecca’s Musicals, Spring Drama Productions, Community Choir, and Drama/Improv classes, adults from around western Manitoba can discover and share the joy of music and creation in an atmosphere of fun and laughter. No experience is necessary to these groups. New members are always welcome.
Mecca invites you to discover and develop your talents and self-confidence as you prepare for opening night in any of our youth or adult enrichment programs. Mecca Productions offers people of all ages a chance to develop their skills and discover talents they didn't know they had! Whether you're 2 or 102, being a member of the Mecca Family is a great way to meet new people in a supportive and encouraging environment and have a lot of fun! No experience necessary. New members are always welcome!
